First Light Last Light
Late May, early June, or July

Dates and venue not yet set.

The challenge and the attraction to this workshop is that our attention is directed to the softer periods between night and morning, evening and night. The world around us is not quite in focus, and nor are we. So our perceptions and actions (walking, painting) can surprise us.  We might paint something more resonant with our feeling, than a representation of what is seen.

The schedule goes something like this: We begin at first light, paint on our own for three hours; break and come together for a critique until 11; break for the afternoon; come back to paint in the last light of the day.

For the past couple of years, this has been a challenging and rewarding workshop.  This year, the venue we’ve been using is no longer available. I’m currently looking for a new place with an inspiring vista and

  • a comfortable bathroom
  • a place to make coffee, tea and snacks
  • a good place for a critique
  • ability to leave our gear while we are away for the afternoon

If you have an idea of such a location, please let me know.

$400 for 4 days of painting. A non-refundable deposit of $100 will hold your place in the workshop. I’ll send along more information upon receipt of your deposit. Contact me here.
